Regina in the run for the Danish award RENOVER prisen 2019

The transformation of the listed corner building on the main pedestrian street in central Aarhus is in the run for this year's RENOVER prisen 2019 – a Danish award for the best renovation project of the year.

The transformation of the Regina building is an example of how to renovate a historical and listed building in the city centre, incorporating new functions to revitalise the building itself and inject new life into the heart of the city.

The Regina building was originally built as a hotel and cinema, but since the 1980s it has been home to both offices and a shopping arcade, however with many of the shops standing empty and unused for long periods of time. The vision of the transformation has been to revitalise the arcade and shops, while at the same time converting many of the offices into flats with attractive outdoor areas.

RENOVER prisen is awarded every year to celebrate Denmark’s best renovation projects with an ambition to recognize and highlight good and inspiring renovation projects from all over Denmark. The prize was founded by Danish Realdania and Grundejernes Investeringsfond and is awarded in September 2019.

The project has been developed in close collaboration with Capital Investment. Read the entire nomination here (in Danish): https://renover.dk/projekt/revitaliseringen-af-regina/
